Kansas population growth lags nation

At the Wichita Pachyderm Club last week, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback presented a chart that showed how the ranking of Kansas among the states in population has fallen. Other states are growing faster than Kansas.

Here are two charts showing the growth in population in Kansas compared to the United States. Both are indexed, meaning that both populations start at one, and then grow proportionally. One chart starts in 1900; the other in 1991.
