Markets work if government allows them to. Hazlitt should be required reading for all economics students as well as the various “Leadership (fill in the blank) Kansas” classes.

Hazlitt’s timeless classic is needed now more than ever in our era of “change” under our current edicts from the palaces on the Potomac.

I have an MA in economics from WSU. Most of what was taught was wrong. I had to study economics independently to understand how it really works. Fortunately, I took no students loans.

They start off telling you how free-markets work. Then they tell you it is flawed and needs gevernment help. Economics should be thought of something natural that is observed so that one can make conclusions of it. What they should do now is take the study of macro-economics out of the economics department and put it in the political science department.

I concur Betty A. This should be required reading of all senior high school students in government schools as well. Is it any wonder why we are in this current economic situation when you consider that free market economics are not taught in the Wichita public school system?
