Why is neither the Wichita Eagle nor the City administrator updating us anymore on the downtown “Minnesota guys”. It seems that after the City invested millions of taxpayers dollars in their bankrupt organization they have been thrown under the bus, but at what cost?

After giving $6 million to Bill Warren and million more to David Burk, the City is out of money. Every service is a target for enhancing revenue for the City coffers: Whether it is trash; ambulance service; bus service; and now taxicabs. Mr. Brewer and his fellow acolytes should the referred to as City Regulators not City Council members. Every time that Mayor Brewer gets “mad” someone gets regulated and taxed out of business. Under his leadership of “good intentions, terrible outcomes” our city is continuing going down hill. Thank God, he is term limited!

In australia Scalping has been effectively ended by the promotes who have introduced highly graded pricing for seats. For example today the George Michael Symphony Tour went on sale to members who had a 2 day advance on the general public. The tickets had 4 price points ranging from $130 for the cheap seats at the very top of the back of the stand up to $400 for the seats within 20m of the stage. The hard core fans can get their tickets at scalper prices straight from the promoter now.

I’m glad that the county commission majority reversed their decision and at least one voted to join the minority commissioners in holding a public hearing. I wonder which commissioner it was. I doubt that the voting outcome that will probably approve this TIF will change, but the process will at least give the public an opportunity to speak on this issue.

NAEP can be compared with other states. I don’t believe that the Kansas test is used anywhere else. What a great example of avoiding and ignoring reality to teach to our kids.
